SAND MOUNTAIN LOOKOUT
Established in 1932 with a gable-roofed L-4 cab, which accidentally burned in 1968, a pop-up cupola trailer was used for a time starting in 1968. Abandoned for many years, the Sand Mountain Society erected a 10' treated timber tower and salvaged the remains of Whisky Peak L.O. for the cab in 1989. It is staffed every summer and is listed on the National Historic Lookout Register.
