HENKLE (HINKLE) BUTTE LOOKOUT
Seemingly out-of-place for a lookout in the northwest, Henkle Butte is a small bump on a relatively flat landscape surrounded by expensive homes. Even so, the lookout reports many fires during the summer. First established with a 40' pole live-in tower in the 1940's, the present enclosed 3-story ODF cab, built in 1961, is staffed every season. Known lookout personnel: 1952: Lois Christiansen; 1953: Olive Allen.
