First used in 1931 with a 20' pole tower and L-4 cab, the present 20' treated timber tower with R-6 flat cab was built in 1964. On emergency status for several years, the tower is presently available on the Recreation Rental program, and is listed on the National Historic Lookout Register. There were also patrol lookout sites 1 1/4 miles to the northeast and 2 1/2 miles to the east atop Surveyors Peak.
